Customer Service was a Total Disaster

This review deals with a Kitchen Aid island range hood I purchased from Lowes.. Once delivered, I opened the packaging and found out that I needed several parts for the installation that were not included, most importantly a power cord. I finally bought another brand and it included all parts. Why would you put your customers through that? I also needed a chimney extension. The part number listed in the installation manual was incorrect and could not be ordered by Lowes or Kitchen Aid parts. After literally spending 4 hours on the phone getting forwarded to 8 different people who were "not the one who can help you" I finally found one person and told her I would not let her off the phone until she found the proper part number. After an hour or so, she finally found an installation manual for the exact same unit that had a different part number than my installation manual. You would think I'm finally home free, except that part number on whirlpoolparts.com showed it as "unavailable" and "we don't know where you can obtain this part". A brand new unit and you don't have the accessories for it? Why? Whirlpool was a complete disaster to deal with from a customer service standpoint. I wound up returning the unit to Lowes and bought another brand online. I will never deal with any Whirlpool producte again.

Beautiful hood, and excellent features. Love the looks, Unfortunately doesn™€™t provide the amount of extraction that I was expecting. My previous kitchen aid hood had a better fumes extraction.Also there smoke escaping from the sides of the hood. The installer recommended adding another metal tubing for better extraction

The halogen lights did not work when the unit was installed. As I live on an island, there is additional cost to me to have it corrected under the warranty. At this time, we have to accept a partially defective unit unless we choose to incur additional expense.

Good hood, only if it works

I spoke to a Kitchen Aid customer support person and wanted to provide feedback on the quality of Kitchen aid products. I was advised to leave a review here. So here I am to provide my feedback on this 'top of the line' product (42 inch island mount) that is great but the manufacturing quality of this is subpar. Beyond this, Kitchen aid does not stand behind their products and when things go south their contracted service providers are the least helpful and on paper factory-trained but have no clue how to fix issues with their appliances. From day 1 of installation this unit has an issue of internal wiring because of which the perimeter lights flickered and not always worked. The Kitchen aid FACTORY TRAINED technician fixes the problem by applying some tape on the wires under the hood. The problem resurfaces after 4 months and now the technician comes and supposedly orders a part that I am still waiting on after 8 months. Disappointed with the service provider, I call Kitchen aid and explain them the problem. Kitchen aid now tells me that the unit is out of warranty and I have to pay for the diagnosis and repair. Keep your fingers crossed with this unit. If it works, great. If not, Kitchen aid will not stand behind their products and you are on your own.

We love the range. It is simple to use and aesthetically pleasing. It is part of a KitchenAid package we bought for a kitchen remodel. It did have a lot streaks when we tried to use our normal envirnomentally friendly cleaning products. It helped to use a product specifically made for stainless steel, but that product was not as ecofriendly.

Open-Box product sold as NEW

I purchase new. What I received was pathetic to say the least. The box was destroyed. Not sure how the hood even stayed in. The styrofoam packaging was broken into pieces. It was obvious that the hood was taken out of the box and jammed back in. For such an expensive item, I was shocked to think KitcheAid allows retailers to sell its products in this condition and passing open-box items off as new. The two sides of the Canopy were scratched/scarred. When I asked to return the hood in exchange for a new, unopened box hood, for what I paid, Godecker's responded with this smart aleck response: "That you for that information. Looking at your order and those photos, they seem to need to be cleaned with stainless steel cleaner. Unfortunately at this time I am unable to process a return as these where not reported within the 48 hour required to process a return. Reported the boxes damage is not consider reporting damage. The options I have for you on this piece are a small refund to purchase stainless steel cleaner or you can return this but you will be responsible for the return shipping." In the end, Goedeker's would not take item back unless I paid shipping. Unbelievable! Very unhappy and disappointed.

Plenty of CFM's to do the job!

I installed the 42" over top a 36" stove top in my island. The volume of air pull is great. The style and design are fabulous. Everyone comments about how great it works and how attractive it is. My only two dings are the fact the control buttons don't light until you push them. I think these lights should be on all the time to make them easier to read. I was hoping the unit would be a little quieter but I have a 10' kitchen ceiling so there is a lot of travel before you are above the ceiling. Overall, I love the unit and how it performs.

Suddenly, no lights

We've had this 42" canopy hood in our new house in our new kitchen for less than a year. We've had many compliments about it, and it was working just fine until about 2 weeks ago...the lights both LED and Halogen, quit working! You can press the button, it beeps, but no lights. Fan works perfectly, but no lights? I'm disappointed because I thought the lights would last longer than that. The halogens aren't burned out either. What gives? I find it odd that a product less than a year old would quit functioning like this!

There is even a boost that puts the fan on "super speed" for up to 10 minutes. No more lingering smoke or odors. This is so much better than my downdrafts. We got the 42" and we are very happy.

This unit has an auto function that senses how much smoke there is and adjusts the fan speed accordingly, or you can choose the speed you want. We purchase a complete KitchenAid appliance package which included this Canopy Hood. I've been using it for a little more than a month now. Pros: It is streamlined, the LED lights are nicely positioned, the venting is excellent, and the draw fans work beautifully. The Cons: As with any SS appliance, hard to keep clean.

We bought this along with the 36" KA cooktop for our complete remodel. Our contractor initially thought it wouldn't work with our 8ft ceiling based on some of these reviews. After reviewing the mount, we decided to move forward and make it work. By shortening the angle irons and only using one section of shroud, we achieve a 28" chimney height and 36" clearance above the counter top. Looks great and passed county inspections with no issues. Hood is stunning, whisper-quiet, and powerful. The center lights provide warm light at night while the outer LED lights are excellent for tasks. We are very happy with this hood. If you have an 8 foot ceiling and your contractor tells you this won't work, don't get a new hood, get a new contractor!

Not adapted for 8' ceiling

I bought this hood. I have a 8 feet ceiling and the hood is way to low I am 5'6" (165cm) and I am banging my head in it. I phoned KitchenAid and It cannot be installed higher that 27" 1/2 above a range with 8 feet ceiling but the instructions said it can be installed up to 36" but not for 8 feet ceiling. It is a really poor design and instructions are lying.

If I could return this product I would I haven't had the pleasure to use it yet the new kitchen is still being installed The instructions need better explanations the installation was done by a professional who said hes never seen such a horrible unit to install and recommended me to return. When I contacted the appliance seller he said Im stuck with it....
